Switzerland is perhaps most famous for its impressive alpine mountains, rolling hills and large lakes. Its breathtaking landscape forms an incredible backdrop for a range of summer and winter adventure sports, not least some of the best ski resorts in the world including the famous St Moritz, Gstaad, Verbier, and Zermatt.

That said there is a lot more to Switzerland than sports and skiing. A landlocked country it is bordered by Germany, France, Italy and Austria. Multicultural and multilingual Switzerland is a well equip and very hospitable country.  If your looking for fine dining and shopping French style, or a good beer and a hearty sausage German style or maybe more the relaxed cafe culture the Italian way, Switzerland really does has something for everyone.

With over 700 museums, including the past residence of composer Richard Wagner, the Glacier Garden in Lucerne, a natural monument dating over 20,000 years old, and the Zentrum Paul Klee museum, which is home to the worlds largest collection of works by Paul Klee located in the beautiful historic city of Bern.

Switzerland is also home to many world heritage sites, medieval castles and pretty historic towns. The largest city in Switzerland is Zurich, with its large banking sector and great restaurants Zurich is a surprisingly cosmopolitan city with lively nightlife.  On the French border is Geneva, perched on the edge of lake Geneva also know as lake Leman is famed for its jewellery and provides a perfect destination for an all round city break. Other notable cities include Lausanne, Luzern and Basel.

There is an enormous range of accommodation in Switzerland from the very best in luxury spa hotels which provide first class facilities and service to the more modest but comfortable Alpine chalets or if you are feeling more adventurous maybe an igloo, barrel or a silo.

Finally, one cannot think of Switzerland without thinking of Swiss chocolate, divine cheeses, and their wonderfully indulgent fondue.
