Dandenong is a suburb located on the outskirts of Melbourne, in Victoria Australia. Although it was once an independent city it has now been absorbed by the urban sprawl of Melbourne although it does still maintain a strong identity and character. Dandenong is an extremely diverse city with over half of the population being born overseas. Dandenong is famous for its Drum theatre which was designed by William Ross Architects. The theatre was a redevelopment of the cities town hall which was built in 1880. The buildings striking red colour is prominent and visible from nearby streets in the city and is well recognised in the area
